I'm away for the weekend so I'll get in quickly with the weekend thread. It's a special weekend for me and Deanne (Mrs W.) as it's the 30th anniversary of our first date :)

Took this on my xmas camera - Holga 135, Retro 400 stand developed in Rodinal

All the best for 2012, filmwasters  :)

Happy new year (and anniversary) people  :)

Did a darkroom course lately, which was amazing, but means that I haven't scanned much for a while.

But was given a new epson v330 scanner for Christmas, so here are a couple polaroids.

One is fisherman on the windy beach yesterday on polaroid type 108 from 2000 and my converted model 100 to manual lens.

Other is a boot filled with plants that was given to my wife on type 667 from 2008 and a polaoid 195 with close up kit (which is hard to focus wide open close up).

have a great new year all.

A fitting end to a great year

Windy - I'm a sucker for wispy trees
Sapata - This is what B&W is about
dynamo - 3 great panos
... and loving Chalky's roids!

Haven't contributed anything for a while as I've had 20 something rolls of film sitting on my desk waiting to be processed... I now have the task of scanning them all! Here's one of my first pinholes taken during a trip to Whitby in October.

Mr Windy seems to have found a stylee :-) Very nice. And that Whitby shot - wow!

As you may be aware, I don't do landscapes. So I took these environmental portraits on a stroll in the Eishken Estate on the island the other day- the only day for weeks a gale hasn't been blowing and the rain has stopped! Had an OM10 with 500mm glass. RolleiRetro400s soused in Rodinal.

Happy New Year. Remember, sharpness is overrated!

Andrea, those landscapes are wonderful.  They remind me of Paul Strand's Tir A'Mhurain - one of my favourite photo books.  A trip to Western Scotland is definately high on my list of things to do in 2012.

Another vote for Pauls, pinhole works brilliantly. Also loving the panos.

Mine is a memory from the year, My eldest will be 18 in a couple of months and so the family holiday to Cornwall for a surf trip was probably the last I will have all together. End of an era and yet a beginning. A sentimental post.

Thanks for your kind comments everyone.

Although this thread is quieter than normal (probably due to the holidays) the quality is still superb.

Phil - great shot. I somehow think they don't have MOT's in Crete ;-)

Andrea - Love the pony's. I do envy you for living in such a special place

Another Whitby pinhole from me

Well, it may be quiet but there's a lot of quality on this thread. Particular favourites from the thread so far are:

- Windy's "windy" tree
- Sapata's shot from Munich
- Chalky's "bootiful" boot
- Paul Mitchell's pinholes

My shot is a Buddhist stupa taken on a very wet day in the sacred city of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. It was taken on Kodak Ektar 100 but it looks a lot better as a Silver Efex Pro mono conversion. Ricoh GR1s.

Happy New Year everyone. Thanks a million for keeping Filmwasters alive for another year; we are endlessly gratified that you talented bunch deign to hang out with us here and keep the wheels spinning.

My final shot of 2011 is of my brother-in-law and my nephew at Battersea Park on Boxing Day 2011. Taken with a Polaroid Land Cam 360 on expired Polacolor 125i film and then accidentally developed for 48 hours in my pocket. Whoops! The print had dried out and some of it had stuck to the neg, also the sky had developed some interesting bright blue patches where it should have been white...and the colour was all very slightly off. In other words; perfect  :D ;)

p.s.
Random dog included to get the Filmwasters dog lobby onside  ;D

Taken just before the New Year at Obbe / Leverburgh on the south of the Isle of Harris on The Butty Bus. I was with Team Sky Professional cycling teams' Jane and Rodney Ellingworth [Rodney is Mark Cavendish's coach] who were visiting for a couple of days when the weather was wet. Very wet as it happens! Went in the Bus for a cuppa and met local resident John Maher [ http://www.theflyingmonk.co.uk ]- former drummer of the Buzzcocks who now does pixeling imaging and VW engine tuning for drag racing cars. Turns out John, who I had never met -or so I thought, had ridden the Manchester Velodrome - on a session I probably coached when I worked there - knew my photos! :-). Then, when I introduced my pals he just said he'd just read Cavendish's book - and was Rod The Rod in the book [he was - and I'm in it too as it happens;-) ]. We all had a nice cuppa while the rain persisted and I took this snap.

Happy New Year

Good to see more people piling ontop this one as the New Year celebrations die down (for those of us affected by them) and normality returns. There are some lovely shots here as usual.

I like Charles's impressionistic multiple exposures a lot. In general, multiple exposures don't really do it for me, but these stand out because they seem to be an intelligent take on the type of thing a lot of us try the first (or second) time we wield a Holga. Looking forward to seeing where you go with this idea, Charles.

Erin: I love those chocolate prophets (my own inside joke re Joshua Trees) and am glad you're going to be shooting every Sunday  ;D

Salvo: Great little series. It made me smile. I particularly love the shot of someone's Dad (yours or your wife's?).

Diane - good to see you have some snow at last!  ;)

Just one of the great things about having time off over the holidays was the chance to catch up on developing and scanning. These from our FW meetup in October, because of the light leak in my Isolette these are the only shots I came away with. (never-the-less still a very enjoyable day!)

What an interesting backstory Andrea.Ive just seen that the original Buzzcocks inc. Mr Maher and Howard Devoto are playing 2 dates in may http://www.buzzcocks.com/site/livedates.html.
John Maher is the reason that the Smiths Johnny Marr changed the spelling in his own name.
