The latest collaboration gallery is now online:

Thanks very much to everyone who contributed. We'll run another one early in 2012.

Mine was sent in on the 29th Nov but doesn't feature :(

What gives?  Is 11 the magic number?

Ian's is my fave and I love Piet's (as much for the narration as the image), while Terry's is almost identical to mine, which might be a factor in my image's relegation to the Blue Square Premier League of Collaborations?

Graham - I've just checked and there was nothing from you in the filmwasters gmail inbox. Which email address did you send it to?

Excellent stuff guys!

I still haven't developed the film that has been sitting in the tank for the last few weeks!  Probably fairly shabby of me I suppose, but family and Christmas and all that other stuff has caused a slight delay.

Cheers,

All made me smile, but Diane's Crow is outstanding.

Hi Leon

Yep, Like Sandeha, seem to have sent it to the right adress.  Here's my accompanying spiel and also my scarlet pimpernel of an image just for general illumination.  Bit like Terry's I think you'll find, but spotty!.

Ribblehead Viaduct at 11 AM on 11 November 2011

I had various plans for this shot but the need to travel south for family reasons that morning meant that I had to change tack and so I decided to just shoot the image wherever I was at 11 AM during my journey.  In fact, with about 2-3 minutes to go, I pulled off the road at this location, a little to the north of Ribblehead Viaduct and angled my Olympus Pen D out through the windscreen and composed this image before firing the shutter as the minute's silence began on my car radio.

The camera was loaded with out of date Kodak Tri-X from 1985.  I developed it in Kodak HC110 to try and minimise the base fog which I'd discovered on other recent films from this batch, but on drying the emulsion shows a lot of marks (which doesn't appear to be dust) and the grain is a little bit more uneven than on previous films that I've developed.  Printed on Ilford RC paper that was developed in Dektol with a No 5 filter to enhance the contrast and get through the fogging.

It was only on printing that I suddenly realised that subject of the image was actually 111111 (11111111111111111)!

Sandeha - your email did arrive.  Apologies for it not being included.  I'm sure Ed was trying to juggle a million things at once, as he is want to do.  So I'll plead pressure of work on his behalf.

Graham - I have no idea what happened to your email, but it did not make it into the filmwasters inbox I'm afraid.  We have received it now, thanks.

Both pics and text have been added to the collaboration gallery.

Big apologies to you both.  We are very much an amateur effort, run pretty much by us as hobbyists.  This occasionally means real life gets in the way.  I guess we could introduce fees and take it all a bit more seriously, but then it wouldn't be filmwasters would it?  sadly, this means that we get a bit clunky at times, so I hope you can bear with us, and accept our sincere apologies. We really do appreciate your taking the time to make and submit your pictures.

cheers!
L.

Leon

Absolutely no need to apologise.  I find it amazing that things run so well here almost all the time given the comittments you all must have.  Its a pleasure to be able to come to this site on an almost daily basis and feel part of such a community.  You and all the other mods should be really proud of what you achieve.  There have been time recently, during ilnesses etc, were I almost couldn't live without my daily/weekly fix. In fact, I really wish I lived nearer to the southeastopolis just so I might get the chance to meet some of you and the other wasters occassionally.

Like anything there's bound to be the occasional glitch but this one is really in the very minor scheme of things.

Much quicker and easier if I just quote Graham, Leon.  My feelings are exactly the same.   ;)

I would like to apologise on Leon's behalf too. It must be his fault somehow that the two images got missed off from the gallery.

 :D ;D

Seriously though, I was in a bit of a rush this morning when I trawled the FW mailbox for 11/11/11 submissions and I obviously missed Graham and Sandeha's. Sorry, gents.  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

I notice a 'missing 't' in my text :-). No need to worry though, I found it stuck to the end of my typing finger!

Great work by all. I only wish that my feeble attempt to take photographs inside Athens Airport had produced images anything like these. I'm blaming it on the presence of guns! ::)

Great collection. I'd intended to be in Cambodia (but that got rained off due to the monsoons) so I was just sat in a meeting in the bl**dy office wishing I was somewhere else.

What a great series! As well as being a reflection on the day and what that hour means to all of you it's also a fascinating insight into the ordinary everydayness of our lives. Brilliant.
