thanks Erin.  Ours have only just come into flower, so looking at these is like looking into the future.  Lovely colours and compositions.

Thank you so much Ann!!! I had so much fun shooting them and was so excited to see them there. I was afraid I'd missed out on them since the first time I photographed them was so long ago. I expected they'd be all ripped out, replaced with some other kind of flower so I was super excited to see all the seed pods growing there.

are these wild?  If so you could probably grab a few seed pods and grow some in your yard.

Wish they grew here...they are so cool!

I actually have a Holga lens for my N90 from Holgamods, but thats not what this is. Its a standard 50mm lens with a Holga lens held over the end.  ;D

I wish! But no, they were growing at Descanso Gardens. They make me want to get some seeds though and plant them in planters. Only problem is, I think they need all day, full sun and I cant give them to them here. If I put them outside, all the rodents would eat them up.

I love that last photo of them!  I must see if I can find seeds.  From what I've read they are short lived plants( we have a short growing season) so I "think" I may be able to grow them....

I'm lucky to have a very green thumb, so will at least give it a shot.

Thanks a million for introducing us to these amazing plants!

I wish I had a green thumb Becky, but I dont. I kill plants and it makes me sad. Living out here in the desert with all these natural plants around me is wonderful. I dont touch them and just keep on living.  ;D

I hope can find the seeds. I know I'll be seeing some pix of them if you do and Im looking forward to that.

I think I sound like a broken record, but I really need to start scanning my shots with a plastic lens (Diana+ in my case) as a close-up lens. The only thing I managed until now is attaching a filter thread to it so that I don't have to hold it in front of the lens anymore.

That's what I did, too. But taking the lens of to take pictures of my daughter all the time was just too much work.

Finally managed to scan the first shots I did in this style. I was going to sell my Nikon F90X, but with those results I think I'm going to keep it :)
