Fujiroid 4x5
« on: October 30, 2011, 10:46:02 AM »
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I was at PhotoExpo NYC yesterday and was asking the Fuji rep about their Fujiroid film, and asking about the future (because they have recently discontinued two of them), and I said I'd hate to stock up on any of what's left if it'll still be around for a while.

He suggested I stock up on the color 4x5.

it's inevitable that they will discontinue all peel-aparts, it's just a matter of when. i'd say in the next 2-5 years at most.

So mad when they got rid of the fuji b/w 100b film,  It was a really good alternative to polaroid!

I mentioned this in another post, but the fuji reps there were so negative and bitter - it was a huge disappointment.  I almost wish I had the restraint to not purchase any of their products ever again (but forgive me... I am but a weak mortal filmie)

I know what you mean. Several years ago, when Polaroid was still making film, but struggling, I remember the Fuji rep saying that their business goal was to be the last instant film company standing. He was actually kind of gleeful about it. But it seems like that was it - just a pissing contest. I've wondered if Fuji hadn't taken business away from Polaroid, if Polaroid film would have survived (at least for a while longer). Fuji was never responsive to its customers the way Polaroid was.

It's easier to write Fuji in the snow than Polaroid... no wonder Fuji won  :P

(sorry for the cheap joke... I just couldn't resist :) )
