Simmon Omega B8 or Beseler Printmaker 67?
« on: October 16, 2011, 06:29:01 AM »
Someone local is selling their Omega for a song, but it certainly needs a thorough cleaning and probably rewiring, considering it's probably from 1960. Or, I can pick up a Beseler new for under $300. Or, wait until something better comes along.

Any suggestions? Anyone still using a B8? Typical missing/broken bits I should look for?

No particular advice for the Omega.
On the electrical side, if the wiring is not crunchy it'll still be good to go.

Just make sure the bulbs for it still exist... or that you at least have an equivalent still available.

I've never bought an enlarger new. I've never had to re-wire one either (though if it has no transformer, it's just a basic household lamp job anyways). They usually get much less wear and tear than a camera.
