Postman has been again! Mju test shots loaded
« on: August 22, 2011, 10:39:13 AM »
Recently sold the Nikon 35Ti, so in a rather frugal mood I snagged this off the bay.
It arrived this morning and it's in lovely nick.

(I could have bought 25 of these to replace the Nikon!)

Just putting a roll through it.
AE and focus lock no less, and is very pocketable  ;D

Chops

Anyone got any thrifty surprises to share?

Nice, nice, nice!

I recently [about a month] got a Canon EOS1 for €40.00
a few scratches on the body but otherwise in great cond
and working well.

£22 on a rollei prego af 35mm last Friday. Fairly similar in abilities to the Olympus I would imagine. Fixed tessar lens design. I had one a few years ago but the back snapped off. The results were superb. I think there must be something inherently good about fixed focal length small 35mm PAS cameras as everyone seems to eulogise about olympus, ricoh etc. The rollei gets no attention - everyone saves it for their TLRs (of which I am a proud owner!) or the older mechanical 35mm PASs.

I have one that's not so thrifty yet it is in a way. About a month ago, my favorite lens, an AF Nikkor 28-70 decided to partially die... the aperture return has become stuck. When I called Nikon, they told me it would cost about 150$ to get it fixed... expensive. So, in a desperate search, I went to a local classifieds site and stumbled upon the same model lens! And it was 150$ too... and it came with a bonus rear lens cap: a Nikon F90X !
I drove last night through a major rain storm to go and get it. Everything is almost like new. Yay!

Love that Olympus!  You will too!

I scored a Minolta Hi-Matic G.  It's so cute, I can't wait to try it out.
Loving this thread!

Aside from the "Havana Haul" I've also picked up a Lomo 135BC (that I'm loving) and an Agfa Box (Gunter Grass's fault that one).  Wtg on an Argus 75 too ...  ;D

that olympus looks tops! I'm on my third now after buying two kind of broken ones.. hoping this will last me :)

my latest find is this HUGO BOSS camera! kind of feels like a contradiction with the plastic fantastic feel and the brand name :D

I recently got a Olympus infinity stylus. The lens is tack sharp and it's so convenient to carry. Cant wait to throw another roll in it.

I also had a mju II, but at the time didn't really get on with it. Now I've purchased a mju II (for 27EUR) and must say it is an improvement. You'd think you couldn't make the mju smaller, but it's possible!

Not entirely a thrifty purchase--it cost me $60--but so far it's been fun to tinker with:

Is it just me or we're all hauling some great stuff home?

Somehow, just knowing I'm not alone makes me smile :)

I just got these two in the post - one with film in it and 4 shots left, both with nicely intact bellows. There's some paint worn off the back and sides, but they'll look great when I've cleaned them up a little. I was lucky to win both auctions, 2 mins apart.
A friend showed me her Ensignette last year. I liked it and tracked one down. Now I have 6..

Got several film reels now, so I'm going to cut down some 120 and see what pics I can get from them.
