i wonder if we'd make the same effort in the uk for photos. i'd like to think so but probably not.

community spirit indeed. it's amazing the work they put down for such private things, hoping they'll return to their owners once again :)

One of the most depressing and enlightening aspects of the tsunami at the same time...


Those working the clean-up either retrieve photographs, placing them on the side of the road where found, or bring them back to relief / cleaning centers.


They sit in piles to be cleaned and sorted.


Then the possible surviving owners are able to look for their lost memories in a suitable place. The Guardian piece had a much more efficient process over what was in place in April above. I wonder how many will never be claimed, their owners lost forever. Skj.
