Ive definitely lost my Gr1s...
It was in a lowepro pouch which fell into a pond . I should mention that I was attached to the pouch as it fell into the pond.I got out of the water and attempted to dry the little blighter but it whimpered and went silent.I pulled out the half used roll of xp2 and cursed all and sundry while shaking a fist at the heavens saying that it was ruined.I pulled a hand full of film out of the cassette until I realised that the ricoh takes took the film out first and rewinds into the cassette.Damn.I still managed to get about ten shots.
Ive got enough cameras under 30 gbp.It had to be the last one that I paid full whack for,that gets it.
I got the body back and an official death cert for it last week.
Hmm, now do I buy a new (s/h) one?

Sorry to hear your news Euge...

Your question is yours and yours alone to answer. However, how much did you like / love your old GR1s? Is there any other make / model that could do the job as well or better? If the answer to the last bit is "no" then get yourself another. If you believe that a Nikon 28Ti (or similar) would do the job better, then maybe it's time to move on.

Incidentally, did you have the camera covered by insurance? Okay, there might be an excess to pay but you might be able to claim the bulk of the cost of replacement back from your policy.

Ugh, that is such a tough loss!  I'm happy to see that you ended up with some fantastic images!
