Have been looking forward to taking the RB67 on the motorbike adventure to the French Alps and West Germany in a weeks time

I think it is going to take up too much room  I am struggling to fit it in.

I can fit the TLR and three lenses, but the RB67 is huge

I guess I don't need so many clean pairs of undies.

Never ending story  I travel next week to Bangkok and keep debating with myself which camera/s to bring: Pentax 67? Canon A1? Polaroid? At the end I think I will bring with me the Pentax 67. Compact and light camera

Just booked holidays for 'September' and I'm already panicking about what to take. Probably will be the ZI but which lenses (knashing of finger nails)? I'm sure I must need to buy a couple more.

Seriously, I NEED to take a 21mm so that's definite, but what else? Can I manage with just a 35mm? Should I take a 50? Maybe something longer?

How do you decide what to take?

I always take the SWC and as it has a fixed lens, that takes care of that. I always take plastic and that tends to be the Holga. Sometimes I leave it at that, but, lately I have been taking the 501cm as well with a standard lens. I have to say, it is a bit heavy if I have to walk any distance.

always, always, always a pinhole, and the K1000 or ME Super, then it depends on my mood and what I feel like tugging around..  the Olympus XA fits in my pocket so it goes too.

I'm less interested in hauling a bunch around like I once was ( getting older, smarter???)  but I always take a wagon load of film so that balances out the pack.

I have dodgy knees, so I've got to do my homework in advance of departure for a holiday. To be honest, there's not much I want to shoot that I can't capture with my Canon F1-N, 20-35mm f3.5, 50mm f1.4 and 85mm f1.8 - but it isn't lightweight gear. My M6 TTL, 28mm f2.8, 50mm f2 and 90mm f4 is the lightest travel kit I have and it commutes to London and back with me every day.

If I have the option to get "trains, planes and automobiles", then my F5 (or D700) kit comes with me as it's AF and I love my Nikon glass better than my Canon FD.

If I'm driving my own car and I can pack what I like, the Hassy 500c/m, 40/80/150mm lenses come with me, together with a bit of light walkabout gear like that mentioned above.

My missus bought me a superb pressie for my 50th the other week. I'm now proud owner of a glass fibre legged tripod called X1-Brian from "Three Legged Thing" company. It weighs 1.5kg (including ball head), it folds to 400mm, will carry up to 8kg and is very comfortable with the Hassy 500c/m and 40mm CF FLE on board.

I have a hankering for a 5x4 but I doubt I'll ever get one.

Went on a trip for 3 weeks i couldnt settle on what to take so i brought with me a nikon f3 with three lenses, a rolleiflex, an olympus XA and a olympus stylus as a "backup". Also, LOTS of film.

Endeded up using only the xa for the whole trip...

Maybe i should just get rid of everything and get a minolta cl or a leica

Well we are back from the trip, it was pretty fantastic I ended up taking:

Zeiss Ikon 6x6 in the tank bag

Canon G10 in the tank bag

D700 with 24mm f2.8 AIS, 50mm f1.8 AF, 100mm f2.8 AIS in the boot

Mamiya C220 - 50mm, 80mm, 180mm in the boot

All the cameras where used, I only get the film out when the going gets interesting, so hopefully once the processing is done I can be bothered to set up the scanner and do some images on here.

The very first thing I saw was Peter R's pano's and felt that something is missing in my life, lucky the camera show is coming up.

@ anyone who knows what's best when touring Thailand / Cambodia:

I've recently traded all my Canon FD gear. I liked some - but not all - of the lenses but the F1-N was fiddly when compared to the F2S kit I've just acquired.

I'm debating whether to take Leica M6 TTL with 28/50/90mm lenses or Nikon F2S with 24mm f2.8, 35mm f1.4, 50mm f1.4 and 105mm f2.5 (I might leave the 24mm at home). Any views / suggestions?

LD - when I hit Asia the last few times I took my Nikon film stuff. My F90s pooed itself on the first day and I shot with my FM I had taken as a backup/opposite film back so the day was saved. Creatively speaking,  swapping films over half way through was always a pain but as it was a manual rewind not too painful to keep the leader out. Had to buy a black marker pen to writet the frame number on the case, but still got a wonderful series of images out of that trip.

If I can suggest this slight variance to you:

1) Leica M6 TTL with 28/50/90mm - beg borrow or rent a second M6 body

2)Nikon F2S with 24mm f2.8, 35mm f1.4, 50mm f1.4 and 105mm f2.5 - beg borrow or rent a second Nikon body.

Point 1) When I travelled with just film only, 35mm, I used to take an auto body and a manual body. the role of the second body was as a backup and also to be used to run the alternate film in, so if B&W was in main body it would carry Trannie and Visa Versa

Point 2) If you choose Nikon, I think you will get more use out of your 24mm than your 35mm. Simply because it is a wide angle lens. If you hit really low light stuff you have your 50mm to grab onto.

Other than that be sure to spend a few days up in Siem Reap with the Temples as you will need them.

I recently travelled to Kong Kong and just brought with me the Polaroid 195 and few packs of film (I estimate 10 shots per day). I was missing one ´easy´ camera for family shots. Next time I will also take the Canon A1..

The Polaroid 195 makes wonders when you ask people to be photographed, it makes it muuuch easier.

You are all my heros! Went to India a few years back, took my F3 and 20d with 6 lenses all up.looked like a total tourist fool,but grabbed hundreds of quality shots on my F3(after days of developong) and hundreds more on my 20d..but this isnt a place to talk about digital is it
