Discarded Photos
« on: May 05, 2011, 10:25:41 PM »
I am a student from Kingston University, London and I am doing a project on the photographs that we all discard.
I was wondering if anyone could help me, I am looking for any photos that are being thrown away, these can be digital files for the recycle bin, prints, slides etc. The project is seen solely by me and my lecturers. I am willing to pay for postage of any prints/slides at are sent to me. I am most interested in the photographs with mistakes on them such as out of focus photographs, people with their eyes shut, fingers over the lens etc any accidental amateur mistakes, but receiving any photographs would be extremely helpful to my practice. Please get in touch with me either on this forum or through my email which is debshooper [at] hotmail.co.uk if you think you have anything that may help me
Thank you

I tend to keep these too so sadly I can't be of any help.

You might find a bit of stuff like you're looking for here

But I think Gary collects them so he might be of some help...

Hi Debs, I've edited your post to change the format of your email address slightly. This should save you some unwelcome attention from spammers...or it might not, but it's a precation worth taking  :)

I may be able to help you. I have about 56 trillion old images (mostly prints) that I've been keeping in boxes for the last ten years and never quite being able to throw out. Assuming my wife's OK with it I could see us handing them all over to you.

We live in Balham, so you could even come and pick them up if you want? I'll mail you with my contact details and you can let me know if you're interested.

the most interesting discarded photos tend to be the ones thrown away at public darkrooms.  In darkroom I go to I dig them out and my spouse incorporates them into her mixed media work.
