Old film, old camera, old train and old photog.
« on: January 20, 2007, 06:18:50 PM »
Came across this stash of what some wise chap on APUG tells me is PERUTZ B&W film. Stuck some in the Kiev Klunker [K60] and shot at 400 this morning near home, dev'd in R09 this afters and presented here for your delectation.
Anyone know any details of this film - there at 500 rolls availablel!

An old photog learning new tricks? (I think I'd query the "old" though, Andrea!)

The image for our delectation is... delectable! Very, very nice indeed.

looks nice! not that it has anything to do with the film, but it reminded me of a shot i took with my first bw roll through a holga a few years back (before i knew to take the mask out).

I found on Photo.net that Perutz, an old film manufacturer, has merged with Agfa in 1964.
Ever since, they have been selling Agfa film in rebadged boxes under the Perutz brand.
Since Agfa went out of business, I don't know if it is still being sold.
If your film dates prior to 1964, it's original Perutz.
If it dates from after 1964, it's some sort of Agfa film.

Film is the vinyl record of photography.

Another great one.  The train has a vintage vibe going on.

Wish I could get my paws on some of that film to try out.

Important question - is there an apostrophe hidden by that lad's hoodie?  If not I hope you went over and gave him a stern talk about the importance of correct grammar and punctuation.

Rest assured David I did! Nice chap too although he didn't even know who The Clash or The Dammed were and looked at me rather askance when I told him I have pogoed along with them and even The Dead Kennedys live in my time. Youth??? I think this would be Goth just has this item of clothing as a fashionista.

BTW; Astrobeck, shall i get you the chap who has the film address for you?

Ah, jolly good show. I think they like to be called "emo" these days rather than goth - but I don't know why they herd together around Urbis and Cathedral Gardens. Back in the day there also used to be a permanent gothy knot around that odd Lincoln statue with the too-long legs near Albert Square.

Much nearer to Coronation Street actually!  If you're ever in Manchester on those few rare warm days in the summer be sure to check out Cathedral Gardens for all the goth kids trying desperately to look melancholy and cool whilst sweating up a storm in their black cossies.

And, once you have sated yourself on the Goths [or whatever they are now called], the Urbis situated in the same area [see on the left of this snap  http://www.flickr.com/photos/schlapp/380789482/ ] is well worth a visit. At the moment some nice snaps of Hong kong.

for the film; Jem Kime, The Real Camera Co. 7 Dale  Street, MAnchester, M1 1JA.
