Since filmwasters has finally entered the digital age, i figure i'd start a thread for amusing/interesting camera commercials!

and, oddly enough, this is the fourth mention of cupertino in the past couple days for me. my new iphone was set at cupertino as the default location! maybe it's a sign that i should move there.

Love the Pentax ads!

The clank of the Pentax shutter is one of the most endearing sounds on the planet!
 :) :) :)

Love the smooth character in the pink suite in #2. Not sure that I would by a used car from him though!

Only reason I added the first post; cm 2, I like that she was driving a Honda 360, but was able to go faster than the now legendary Toyota 2000GT, a Mazda Cosmo Sport, and a Nissan Fairlady 240z! :D

I've watched it 100 times just for that. Trying to pick the roads is fun too, I think they're Nagoya way... Thanks!

Some strangely irrelevant Euro-Photography ads.

Vintage East German 1960's ORWO Film Commercial - this one wont embed, but is worth clicking through to youtube.

I love that first 1960's East German ORWO ad-It makes the East seem so much fun the second Praktica one was surreal.

The jingles and background music are fabulous in these old commercials!  Loved watching them all, especially the Polaroid Swinger w/ Ali MacGraw!

Not a commercial per say but more of a promotional article from an old French magazine my mom found lost around the house for decades. Heck, it says July/August 88 in the corner!
So anyways, it's a promo for the new Polaroid Cool Cam that is aimed at the young market of kids between the age of 9 and 14. Easy to use, the camera is perfect for kids to express their creativity.

The camera was offered in red, black, gray or pink. The colors were chosen by a panel of kids. The camera is inspired completely by the tastes of the teenagers they say... They even went to the trouble of asking the kids to draw their dream camera!

Isn't it strange that kids all dreamed of a 600 Polaroid close-up?

Anyways, the camera is said to be a perfect pedagogic tool to help kids develop visual expression and social sense...

The camera was sold with a pair of cool sunglasses and a carryall bag specially designed with an outside pocket to store your pictures. All this for 49.99$

So, putting all this together and trying to make sense of it all; it means most of us are kids under 14 who go around looking cool with our bag and camera :)

Close enough for me  :D
