Weird eBay Listing
« on: February 16, 2011, 08:41:33 PM »
OK, so does anyone else find this listing a bit weird? Is the word, 'impossible' now synonymous with 'Polaroid'?

I guess they either used this to attract more traffic to their auction or it's simply what is to be expected in the future...

The seller is MrCad not TIP, so they should know better.

I agree with Francois on the hit front.

I bought my LPL5700 enlarger from them many moons ago but am glad that they are still in business as they are one of the sites I look to when looking for analogue photo equipment in the UK.

Isn't that really annoying ?? >:(

Whenever I search for anything related to analogue photography on ebay, the word lomo/lomography is there in almost everywhere!! Now the "impossible" word as well ?

I normally ask the seller to show me the lomo logo pretending I don't know anything... >:(

on a side note, i have noticed a dramatic decrease in polaroid films on ebay recently. only a couple packs of ID-UV for sale, and only one page of 669 (and half of those are fuji). the end is nigh!

Cheers, Sean. That's cheered me up no end.  :'( :'( :'( As if an evening wasted spent trying to sort out car insurance wasn't enough, I now have to hit the sack  thinking about just how many (or how few)125i, 665, 55 etc. shots I have left before it's all gone.

Sob.

Also, going back to the evilBay listing...I didn't realise it was from Mr Cad. I bought 4 packs of 125i from them only 2 weeks ago and respect them a lot given their history. They really should know better than to bandy about the "I word" like that.

I've noted the same... The last 12 months have taken a heavy toll...

Seen this trend with vintage valve audio equipment on the Bay...

And yes it you want to attract trendy Bayers to your item just stick Lomo in the title. It works 'unfortunately'..

I always add -lomo* to most of my searches. Gets rid of most of it.

I think people use Impossible to get more traffic and I think that works because so many people new to photography are using the two terms together as if they were one and the same. I see it on Flickr all the time.

And just to add my two cents about the end of real Polaroid film, I too have noticed that very little of it is available online now and when it does come up, its super expensive and doesnt last more than a few minutes if its buy it now. Makes me very sad to think that I am just starting to enjoy this film and will most likely have to give it up as soon as my film is gone an I only have 1 and half boxes of T55. Very sad.

But on the bright side, Im really diggin' pinholes so that gives me something new to look forward to.  ;D

Just the thought of Sean's comment has just sent me on a Polaroid film smash and grab...  :(

Oh, and if your looking for the title to sell your trendy threads etc then I'll spin the beans on the word for the cool crowd on their listings.

'Indie'

It informs all the other in-crowd bohemians that you are part of their sect. Believe me, it works... ;)

moominsean -

$45 for a twin pack?  I have a fridge full, maybe I should sell it on ebay so I can afford some Impossible film ;)
