Panorama cameras
« on: January 21, 2011, 04:55:02 PM »
As we had a recent surge in panorama photography here (well, just two threads, but anyway) I'm getting interested in the topic. The Holga WPC is already on it's way over from China but I'd be interested to know what other cameras are out there. The Noblex is out of my price range and the Horizon 202 (maybe even the LSI Horizons) is always working as it should. So what does that leave us with?

I have the Gakken stereo pinhole, you get panorama shots when not using the stereo mode. Apart from that the price range goes really out of my reach...

Oh, I had forgotten about that one. Probably because the images on the LSI site aren't really all that great (surprise, surprise).

the Ansco Pix Panorama is cheap, and usually a pretty good shooter considering what it is.
They are fairly easy to find on e-boo.

I have both a Viv IC-101 and an Ultronic Panoramic (both cheap 35 crop frame pieces of plastic)...
So not very satisfying pieces of gear :)

I'm torn between the three I use. Love the Sprocket Rocket especially in how quickly and easily it is to load film. Nothing will gobble up cheap Walmart film faster. Which is my biggest complaint about the Horizon 202... loading film in that requires some extra patience. That said, love its sharpness across the film. Plenty of mystery in the Holga WPH.

I've always had a, previously secret, love for one of these. But I'm afraid it is definitely out of my price range.

I've always wanted a Linhof Technorama 617. The older ones look amazing, the newer ones less so, but they all take very, very good-looking pictures.
