FUJI FP3000B Bleach
« on: January 10, 2011, 01:16:36 PM »
I have not found a specific topic about bleaching a fuji FP3000B. Well I have found references in other topics... So, firstable I tried to remove the goop, Ok, it´s not possible as far as I know. The goop image is in the emulsion...so the goop and the image disappears. Then i bleached the back of the goop with bleach, as usual. And, as read somewhere, yes, there is a white layer that so far I do not know how to remove. But, even with the white layer the image is a bit translucent so it can be scanned as a negative. Here I present the three options. Scanning of the original photo, scanning of the goop and scanning as a negative. Do not know if it´s worth it with the already available goop, they are quite similar.

They are similar but there are differences enough to make me think its worth it. I like the second one the best. I like how light it is and the darkness can be boosted a bit in PS. I think in the first some of the tonal range is lost in the darkness but its still wonderful and very dramatic. The last one is a bit opaque looking.

Yep, I did not tweak in PS, just wanted to give a straight image, only with levels adjusted when scanning. The goop, as you said, offers more tonal range possibilities than the negative, and I would say similar or even greater than the original, if makes any sense...
