Image Size
« on: December 28, 2010, 07:34:14 PM »
Hi,

I have had a bit of an unsuccessful search for details of the maximum dimensions that will show a picture complete on the width of the forum.

I posted some at 900 pixels but they come up with a horizontal scroll bar.

Cheers,

W

Andrea.

400 pixels across with max file size of 200kb will be just fine I think.

I usually resize everything to 600 pxl and never had a bar show up.
Thing is the bars are not generated by the server but by the browser itself. It depends on your screen resolution. I'm currently running 1600x900 (max screen resolution) and seldom have a problem with scroll bars appearing.

My guess is the CSS file used by the forum uses either fixed width or percentage width to set the size of the message windows...

I've started to link from flickr using BB code and the medium 500 pixel option

Given that we have a 200k limit on file size I find that 500x500 works best for me as it involves the least file compression.

Seems to be fixed.

#wrapper is 980px wide. The column is 85% with a 6px left padding. Which leaves 827px for the post (or maybe less if I've missed something). I must be sad to have even looked.

Anyway, I find 700px wide works for me.

It says 800 is largest on longest side x 200Kb max, so that's what I post. Seems to do the job.

I like keeping the width at 666px but maybe that's just me. ;D
