On the general subject of the Lomographic Society (as opposed to Lomo cameras), please do not forget the Porsche Parable; when Porsche started making their bloated & ugly SUV, the purists complained, 'How could they possibly be so stupid, what about the sports cars?'
What most failed to realize is the moneyed-up, brand conscious, egoists, would happily pay for a badge, thereby subsidizing the company's production of cars for real enthusiasts. Some even comment the viability of Porsche as an independent manufacturer of cars, was saved by such a move.
The Lomographic Society fulfills the same niche; not better, not worse, but brand conscious sales of any film-based, or just plain photographic, product is a good thing. As long as the Look, its 43 Degrees Outside, Let Me Grab my Scarf and Diana+ and Go and Snap My Starbucks Coffee Hipsters are buying film, we are all better off.
We need to thank them for subsidizing our pastime, which may have otherwise gone belly-up... Just my take on this reoccurring theme here! See ya. Skj.
