My latest thrift shop find..
« on: July 16, 2010, 03:06:40 PM »
I picked this up yesterday..I can't believe the condition considering the sales receipt date..12.22.1960..It has everything in it's original box..which is also in "like new" shape..
afga Optima IIS..with pontormator lens..
I am hoping one of you more camera speak people can help me out with this..I have the complete instruction booklet  but don't understand all of it cause of the way it is written..It has 3 setting..."A" and then a flash sign and bulb..obviousely if it's on the A it does what you would think but it also says something about setting it on the bulb setting then you can choose an Fstop..wondering if anyone is familiar enough with this camera if they can explain this better to me..

Hi yest I've used one once before, I think they are auto and work in the same way as a Olympus trip with selenium meter changing the aperture I don't think the optima has a manual overide (not that I remember).
The shutter is called a Prontormator not the lens which is the Apotar 45mm F2,8 and gives nice sharp images in outdoor conditions from memory.
Hope this help
There's more to this photography thing than meets the eye.

Diane, I'd love to  see a few shots of your husbands latest purchase and a few detail shots of that gorgeous truck of yours would be cool as well!

That be nicey. Great find indeed. I'll never ever forget when I hit the jackpot finding two mint Diana's in one place in the same day and hour. "Two, two, two mints in one!"

Wow! It is amazing what you can find at the thrift shop nowadays. Even more amazing that people give them up!
I just found myself a rare black canonet ql17 in near perfect condition with flash and bag. I was ecstatic! Just ran a roll of film through and can't wait to see what they look like.
