Sticky cable Release
« on: March 01, 2010, 10:48:14 AM »
...sorry for double posting..Ive posted this in Articles forum as it relates to my 600SE, then i realised its an issue with cable release and not the 600SE -so thought it post here also.

Essentially the cable release is jamming. Which makes the shutter unreliable and occasionaly I cant cock the shutter without pushing the endof the cable release back.

Any idea how best to free this up.  can I just spray with some WD 40?

Try some ronsonol fluid first, it cleans away the dirt that may be causing the jam without leaving any grease or oil.

yeah wd40 is nice for cleaning, but it makes a crappy long-term lubricant. acts fast but then gunks up.

Silicon oil is quite light and doesn't gum up like WD-40 does. I like using it better nowadays (unless the thing is rusted beyond recovery... then I go for WD-40)
