Has Anyone done Night Shooting with a Holga?
« on: November 30, 2009, 01:34:09 AM »
I have a Holga 120N (from Holgamods, with a bulb setting & built in shutter release cord) and I'd like to do some night shooting of  NYC cityscapes, especially now with all the Christmas lights up. I'd like to get the stationary subjects (buildings & other things that are lit up & shiny), and have the people just blurs moving through so they are unrecognizable.

Any suggestions for metering/timing/filters/film, etc??

Thank you in advance.

yes. no metering required even if it's a holgamod version.  You're looking at 10 - 25 second shots for in city shooting. I'd recommend you shoot each shot three times using 400 film -10, 18 & 25 seconds - on your first roll to see what your results are.

use a tripod if you want crispness on stationary objects.... ;-)

I've done a bit in the past with my Diana.  I used Velvia 50 and usually for the city would go around 40-60 seconds.
