what do you know about LegacyPro and Lucky film?
« on: October 28, 2009, 12:57:19 PM »
Strange isn't it you wait ages for a new film come along and then two come along together.

Well these aren't actually new, but new to me.

LegacyPro apparently big in the US is now available in the UK: http://www.digitaltruth.com/

and this expired Lucky film being sold off at ?1/roll : http://www.robertwhite.co.uk/product.asp?P_ID=1882&PT_ID=594

Does anyone had any experience of either of these? Are they worth a try?

I don't know about LegacyPro. If it's big in the US, it never made it across the border to Canada...

Film is the vinyl record of photography.

lucky is a fairly popular chinese film with the toy camera crowd because it's cheap. i've been meaning to use it for awhile, as it's an old style film like fortepan with no halide layer or something. super curly i've heard. lots of examples on flickr.

i just read about legacy film, seems it's some film repackaged, like fuji acros i think.

i've used Lucky a few times.  It's very curly but seemed to be a competent film.

Hard to go wrong at GBP1.00 a pop, but I had some real issues w/ Lucky 120 film and finally fave up using it. I have some left & will probably use them for test purposes or when I have no other film in the fridge, but I'll steer clear unless forced. It takes a decent picture, but possesses that double whammy of features: very thick AND very curly...makes it hard to deal with. Not an issue if you're not doing the processing.

But at a quid a go it's worth getting some it. Times is tight and all that.

Not sure if it's just the shooter or the film, but the highlights are severely blown out in his examples. i like the high contrast look, but these don't do it for me.
