printer question
« on: October 30, 2009, 06:12:28 PM »
I'm currently in the market for a new printer since I need a better one to print larger paper with archival inks...

but in the meantime I need some help changing my waste ink pad?

I have a Canon i 960 and am wondering if it's worth the effort?
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks in advance as always!    :)

I remember my 1993 Canon had a pad... but I don't know if they're still visible when the print head is working... if it isn't it might make replacing harder.

Might be more trouble than it's worth considering the price of regular printers nowadays.

Though it isn't a photo printer (it's just a quad color machine), I recently got a HP Deskjet D2660 for only 29 bucks. It uses Vivera inks which are good for something like 80 years... The cool thing is that the printer is pre-calibrated in the factory to the sRGB profile. I haven't printed much with it but it looks promising for such a cheap machine. I know you see quite a bit of bronzing when using cheap shiny photo inkjet paper... I'll have to try it with something matte.
