Good colour enlargements
« on: July 15, 2009, 09:42:26 PM »
Hello

Can anyone recommend somewhere that makes really nice colour enlargements in the UK?
I've a couple of snaps I want to put on the wall, so don't mind spending a couple of extra quid.

On a similar but unrelated subject; those dye transfer prints look rather splendid. Does anyone still make prints that way. A quick scan of the web turned up blank.

Thanks

The only person in the world (I think) still doing dye transfer is Ctein. He bought up all the materials available when they went out of production. His web site is 'ctein.com'.

That was a really labor intensive process. But I do know that Atelier Fresson are still pumping out their unique color prints (in case you're interested in that too).

Reporting back. Over.

Just picked up a beautiful 10 x 12 colour enlargement.
Thoroughly recommended  ;D
Spoke with the owner about other things they can do, and he showed me some nice monochrome images from colour negatives. Not digital!!!!

I assume they do mail order too.

Be good,

Glad it worked out for you Chops. Did you get the impression that Photo did some really hands-on work to get the most out of the print (dodging, burning etc.)?
