The impossible project type 779 (exp 07/09)
« on: September 09, 2009, 11:44:35 PM »
Anyone tried the type 779 the impossible project is selling through urban outfitters?

Here's an info link for those who haven't heard of the 779s availability:

http://blog.urbanoutfitters.com/features/polaroid

Just picked up 4 packs and am hoping it's good. After sinking too much cash into tz artistic (same exp date) that went green after a week, my fingers are crossed.

Will post examples of both later. Need to finish off some 600 in the sx-70 before I load the 779...

[edit]

here's the tz: 1st image is about an hour out of the camera. taken around 20.08.2009. The second (left image in the diptych is the same image as #1) scanned today. I peeled off the paper just prior to scanning to give it some redeeming quality.  6 boxes of tz artisitic all went the same route.  Nice color out of the camera to greens roughly within 10 days.

Lastly, the 779 out of the can.  Hopefully the chemistry will hold. We'll see in a week or two.

Oooh. Will this fit in an SX-70 camera? And more importantly, is it manipulatable?

it fits in the sx-70, so does 600 for that matter. In both cases trim off the middle two nibs on the bottom of the pack before inserting.  779 isn't a manipulative film by design.

600 is cheaper but this 779 is a fundraiser for the impossible project. a worthy cause for the extra 10 bucks a pack as a one off purchase.  I'll go back to 600 when my packs are done...

Of course in the UK the one pack of polaroid film is *22 GBP* a pack. A short walk away from Urban Outfitters is The Photographers Gallery and they're selling 600 film for 18.99 GBP I think.

On the other hand, I want The Impossible Project to work so... um ...  maybe. I guess they're putting their feelers out for the market...

Also, arugh, their cute tshirts are about 2 sizes too small for me, even in large size! I'm not *that* much of a fatty! I hate skinnypeople stores!

That's the point of my buying it. Otherwise 600 is so much less expensive....
