Hello, I  live just outside Newcastle upon Tyne, England and use 35mm and medium format cameras to shoot on Ilford B&W film which I print up in my attic darkroom.

My interests are in still life and landscape (not easy as I do not drive). I am a member of a local camera club but I only go now and again as there is such a strong emphasis on competitions and photoshop, neither of which hold my attention I am afraid.

I work as a university lecturer teaching chemistry (I buy my own chemicals-honest!). I am currently working on a series of prints of the countryside around Hadrians wall and I have to admit to being heavily influenced by Fay Godwin's book LAND.

That's all for now, I had better get back to work!

Cheers

Les

Welcome, Les.

I look forward to seeing postings of your photos of Hadrian's wall.

Thanks for the Fay Godwin reference.  I just ordered a used copy of Land from Amazon.

Hi Les,

Another Godwin fan - great. 'Land' is a good book as is 'Edge of the Land' and 'Landmarks'. I'd also recommend her book 'The Secret Forest of Dean' but I may be biased as I grew up there.

Welcome of course, and I look forward to a sneak perhaps from Hadrian's Wall. I can recall clambering around as a kid you see... Skj.
