Hello, I'm new here
« on: May 13, 2009, 01:57:49 PM »
Hello all.

I'm new to this forum, just joined today.  I thought I would say hello.

I am not the most experienced photographer in the world, and am just learning how to do things again.

My flickr page is:  www.flickr.com/photos/charliesnowgarden

Like I say, I'm not very good yet, but am really enjoying working with film.  And indeed a camera that is manual.  I hope to speak with you people and gain any knowledge I might be allowed from you all.

Welcome to the fun!

Agree about the pigeon photo, it's my pick of the litter too!

Nice to meet you, Charlie. Are you a fellow Londoner or just a frequent visitor?

Hello!

Thank you for the welcome.

I like the pigeon one too!

And no, I do not live in London.  I live in between London and Brighton.

I am currently using a Microcord (i think mk2) and a Holga 120n (am i allowed to mention toy cameras on this forum?).  I was going to ask if anyone knew a good way to clean the lens of my Microcord?  Am a bit scared to clean it with anything.

am i allowed to mention toy cameras on this forum?.

Charlie, you're 'allowed' to mention any type of camera on this forum. It's very free an easy. Read the 'About Us' page for background on the site. A lot of us here - including the 5 founder 'wasters - have a long background in the toy camera tradition(if I may be so grand) and some regulars still frequent the galleries & forum at toycamera.com. We even talk about digital cameras every so often (albeit tangentially).

I live in between London and Brighton.

Sounds suspiciously like Haywards Heath to me!  :)

Welcome to Filmwasters. There are some lovely shots on your Flickr page.

Thanks for that Ed.  I guess I really should have read that before posting!

Like Ed said, you don't have to worry about camera talk here. We don't do "camera politics"... we tend to go towards the "weirder the better" route when it comes to gear :)

And welcome.

Not Haywards Heath, but not too far off..

And thank you, my photos are no where near as good as any I have seen on here so far, but I am trying to learn as much as I can.

One of the reasons I joined was because of the lack of arguing and politics here!  It seems friendly...

Hey Charlie,

Welcome!!! I am also fairly new to filmwasters and have just participated in the round #3 postcard exchange which has been great fun. Highly recommend the next exchange.
