Is this a light leak?
« on: March 20, 2009, 06:09:06 PM »
I'm assuming it is, it's taken on my Holga 120wpc, but I've suffered a light leak on this camera before. :-\

It had a bit of an issue getting the film on the spool and I think I touched the film as I was fiddling with it. But that wouldn't have caused this would it?

Looks like a leak... but on the right side of the camera.
Odd since there is the roll on this side which protects against light hitting the film directly...  ???

Might be a reflection...

Yep, just on this frame that's the weird thing.

maybe the camera got a knock or something at that frame, allowing light in. on most cameras you wouldn't expect this, but on a holga ....!

I'd say check the whole black compartment behind the lens since you have crisp edges so it's not a rolling problem light leak. The standard places to tape up and seal are two small bumps at the top (which are probably hidden behind a proper mask in the newer holgas. Mine didn't come with a 6x6 mask) and all the little gaps/lines like around the holga name, across the front just below that bit, etc.  It might even be coming from the shutter clicker/lever considering its position.

Don't forget this one is the 6x12 panoramic model. I think it has a pinhole (if memory serves me well).
It's probably built differently from the regular Holga and I don't think it does 6x6...

Thanks everyone, I think the consensus is it's a light leak.

I've given it a going over with gaffer tape, so we'll see if it happens again.

I thought it was a finger too. Look at the lighter area at the very bottom where it borders the frame edge.
The frame is sharp and no light goes into it, I'm betting its a finger-'digit artifact'  :)
There's more to this photography thing than meets the eye.

Oh, you might be right!  :-[  I'd better make sure those fingers are under control.
