I bought a box (20x packs) of expired Type-668 color film. Expired in June 2004. I suspect it was also not stored correctly. The colors and artifact effects though are just glorious. Well I think so anyway. It did not work too well in my hardcase beast, so I borrowed a friend's Fuji FP-1 for manual control... Much better!
With 200 prints to play with, at 10 yen a pop, I can afford to experiment a little. Over-exposed, and over-developed you can approach normal colors. But normally exposed and normally developed, the colors get that super Polaroid tint and vagueness. Pity the FP-1 has such a nice lens, as behind some plastic the effects would be even more marked.
The prints though seem to take at least three days to dry. They get this smooth oil on them that does not go away fast. You can wipe it off, but still they take a day to dry... An easy fix is to use a fixing stick from some Type-665. With a pile of expired and useless 665 laying about, their fixing sticks come in handy to seal this color Type-668 nicely. They dry in a few minutes instead of a few days.
