Colour/Color Collab now live!!!
« on: November 08, 2008, 02:22:58 PM »
Many thanks to all who submitted,  21 images submitted which is a good turn out.

Some great images as well.

Its been ages since the last collab so it feels very good to be back in the swing of things.

I will knock a few F/W heads together and get the next collab arranged asap.

Enjoy!

I just added mine so that's now 22. Great turnout. Thanks everyone.

For the record, here's the toilet roll shot that I chose not to submit. The mushy peas and ketchup just had the edge I think. Dream, James Natcheway...one day your work may say as much...may be as important as mine. One day.

Haven't seen this here since the early 80's

all fantastic as usual.  I've got to say top place has to go to Becky Ramotowski for making such a colourful picture on black and white film.  Nice one

Well, it's still made, we just don't usually buy it...which is why I thought it unusual enough to take a photo of  ;D

I'm really enjoying all the different takes on the theme:

Ed - nice image of a Turner Prize finalist's sculpture/slice of British life
Diane - that dark blue sky makes the house feel as washed out as it looks
Chops - the "Blob's" alive!!! beautiful blur and intense glow
Andrea - well spotted, those colourful floats/buoys really pop in the landscape
Skorj - the mailbox and headband play well against each other in the monotone background
Peter R - I'm a scientist, so you had me with the graph....a lovely conceptual approach to the theme
Tim - rainbows always tap into our fantasies, and the cross-processing works so well with that!
Francois - that one colourful tree is integrated so well by the large green foreground - I wish I could make such smart compositional choices
Cameron - the beautiful lighting and colours make me want to caress the smooth white trunk of the tree
Heather - you've taught me something valuable by the placement of those strong colours of the flags in the geometry of the composition
Russ - simply delicious the way you amped the surreal nature of the hanging dresses by cross-processing
Kevin - a beautiful, simple moment captured at a magical time of year
Becky P - so much joy and happiness!
Janet - a beautiful reminder of how luscious pure colour can be
Formica - Simpsons as Fijian tokens - nicely realized with a strong graphic style
Peter S - great contemporary landscape with painterly tones
Becky R - transcendent
Damion - what the fashion mavens do - pair a strong colour with a neutral, which you've done to great effect here
Jen - beautiful colours and stark contrast of the cemetery and the continuous cycle of life in the flowers and trees
Piet - love the conceptual layers of colour in such a strong, engaging portrait
Aline - an elegant reminder of the everyday beauty that is so rapidly disappearing from our lives

Thanks all!

Props to all, a really nice collab this time with lots of variety and interpretation.
I especially like Janet's for the softness and minimal, less is more vibe it has.

I also like the collab within the collab by Becky Pendel of the kids.
Looks like that was a fun shoot.

And Mr. Wenn, I think the kids have had a great influence on your artwork and style.
 :)

Good show everyone!!!

Thanks for including me in the project  :)  Some great photos there.  I particularly like the Marbletree one, I always seem to be drawn by Diana and Holga photos.

a great selection. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy browsing everyone's images. I look forward to the next one and hope to get something in.

Great stuff.

I only just noticed I had a message announcing this event today. I'll have to pay better attention in future. Below, I just tried to post a picture here for the first time (let's see if it works...)

Aha! It worked! This is my B&W photo, which I hand colored with oil paints. I used my favorite paper, which is no longer available- Luminos Charcoal. I have about 70 sheets left and am using it sparingly:

Wow, Russ, that's lovely.  Shame you didn't read your mail. We have a final collaboration gallery going up in late December. The theme this time round is "2008"....should be pretty accessible for most people, but also wide enough to allow for some interesting interpretations.
