Topic: Test roll in b&w

Some snapshots from this little place called Segenting (30 mins from my hometown) in Malaysia when I went back there to visit my parents last weekend. Testing a roll of ERA b&w 100 film on an old Leica CM Zoom.

Not sure I like the ultra high contrast on these  I like the first and the third picture.

Heather, thanks for the comment. I was also kinda confused on the exposure. Do not know why the sky was all blown out. First time using the CM Zoom, set it on auto mode. Any tips for improving?

could be for all kinds of reasons.  the shadows look quite blocked up on my monitor  - if this is so, then the camera could be underexposing the film.  This along with the the highlights being blown could mean the film is also over developed.  Then again, if these are scans of small prints, it could be poor printing and the negs are fine.

If they were printed on a machine it could just be really crap contrast/saturation on it too. If you have a little lightbox (or just waxed paper/greaseproof paper against a bright sunny window can work) and a magnifying glass or loupe, you could look to see if there's any detail in the highlights (sky).
