Printing on canvas question
« on: June 30, 2008, 10:25:35 PM »
I need to have a photo printed on canvas for a fund raiser later this year.

Has anyone, preferably in the USA, had any luck having a photo printed on canvas at a lab or photo service place anywhere?
I'm looking for at least 11 x 14 inch size final product.

Edit: Probably should add that it will be color.

Thanks in advance.
Becky

I know I've seen some canvas prints that were not even on canvas! More like some plastic imitation. Don't think about stretching those as they will rip. Might be better off with a fake Photoshop canvas texture... though it isn't anything like the original.

other than giclee (or however it's spelled), paint-on emulsion would be the only way to print on canvas, i would imagine... or screen printing. there's a place in flagstaff that does really fancy stuff. they got these massive enlargers from some place that went out of business. they can blow up a 35mm shot to wall size, stuff like that (caters to the desert/nature photog group). can't remember the name, but i'm looking. they may be able to do something like that.

give this place a call or send an email. they do environmental signage, and large format prints. Expect the price to be a between 100 & 200 USD.

if your looking for faux-canvas try WHCC. its an ink print but they look quite good.
