Spring is Sprung
« on: May 02, 2008, 06:07:14 PM »
Is it me, or is the spring particularly good this year?  lots of great colour and freshness around here at the moment, so I thought I'd take some black and white shots (go figure!) of the black tulips we've got growing in the front garden.  Nice and blurry like all good flower pics should be :)  Apologies to anyone in the southern hemisphere ... you;ve got another 6 months until you're spring arrives.

it has actually been a very nice spring. it's taking its time heating up here in the desert this year. mid to upper 80s (F).

Now that the warmer weather has arrived in Northern Utah, it's so nice.  (Although it did snow for most of the day on Monday.)

A black tulip, my favourite flower but I have never photographed a black one, have to add that to my wish list. I like it Leon.

Here my first May shot, taken on a very cold wet and windy morning,  not sure about the scan but i hope to get a decent print from it.

Leon, those are great photos and I sort of hate flower photos.
My chopstick is really a love poem.

Gotta say Leon, you have a way with flowers.
I'm with Gordo.
Not a fan of flower pics, but you bring yours to another level.
Well done.

Happy Spring to all.

The mind boggles...

I seem to remember seeing somewhere that you tend to wave a magnifying glass in front of the lens. Was that it?

The plane of focus doesn't appear to be parallel to the film so just wondered what you used.

thanks everyone, and those who also posted - some great pics, eddie and Wally especially.

Peter - damn it, you've rumbled me :)  It;s just a magnifying glass as you say, moved around until it looks right in the viewfinder, then snap.

...also good for this is an old binocular lens; great for weird, distorted close-ups.

...oh and I sort of like flower pics. Often they're the only vaguely interesting thing I get to take a run at; so I've grown to love 'em as subjects.

These are some mighty nice spring shots.  I took a few, but still haven't scanned in them, gotten them developed, or even finished off one roll that I started.  :)
