Paper negs
« on: March 15, 2008, 02:19:28 PM »
Finally seem to have got the hang of in-camera paper negs. Pre-flashed and using a water-bath with the developing. Seems to work.
Here's home taken on the FKD on 5x7 Kentmere Select VC and contact printed and sepiered onto same.

... and here's one from the 'All the paperwork I should have filed' 'camera' [HasselFree Box??]- made from a box-file and pinhole poked in foil - and gaffer tape! [designed while drinking my early morning coffee in bed and put together after working on the new veg patch this morning - the latter is lovely since you ask as it overlooks the sea :-) ]
Again, pre-flashed KentmereSelect with a water-bath development.

Wow!
You have really made some nice work with poking a hole in tinfoil!
Love them both and especially the homesite.

What are you using to hold the paper negs in camera?

I've been taping mine, and not having much success.

The firstsnap was using an old Russian lens on the FKD [hence the flare]. The second a pinhole on the box-file :-) Yes, I tape the paper inside on the pinhole box. Use gaffer tape as it sticks to everything and I seem to have loads of it around. The neg was quite big - about 8x8 but the hole wasn't very good really - sharp in t'middle but interfering/adding atmosphere around the edges. Fun tho.
Thanks for the kind comment :-)

Hi Andrea - nice work! Very interested to see how paper negs turn out. I have been thinking of trying this for a while - need to get my arse in gear! What kind of exposure times do you need with paper negs, and would you recommend one type of paper over another?

I have used paper at asa 5 so found these exposed at around 1 sec for the f22 FKD and 50 secs for the pinhole.
Best use any cheap RC paper without any name printed on the back so you can contact print through it. HAve used both Kentmere Select and KodakPolyPrint - because I have them.
