February issue of The Sun
« on: February 05, 2008, 02:24:59 PM »
The february issue of The Sun  Magazine has published a portfolio of work of mine from a few years ago.  Kind of a faux circus thing, about twelve or so images I think.

If you don't know The Sun, it features some good writing and then the illustrations tend to be only photography. Running the photo essay is a little unusual but that is done too sometimes as the magazine emphasis is weighted towards writing.  It is a good read usually, I think.  And a good place to send your work though the pay is on the lighter side.

Thanks for indulging my plug.  That even sounds offensive.

I don't believe I've heard of the magazine. I'll have to check it out with a search. Good for you, Gordon, and glad to see your work is still in circulation.

Well okay then, found the link and your mention...but your feature doesn't seem to have a link to your things. Might you show some frames?

Beck... The Sun is more a newstand mag and I hadn't checked out the website.  The attached images are from the same body of work...  Kind of an anomalous studio adventure for me really.

This is a great little series, Gord. Congrats on getting it published. The Sun is a great little magazine.

excellent Gordon - nice one.  I'd love to get hold of a copy when it comes out ....

Your Sun seems to be a very different publication to our tabloid daily "The (soaraway) Sun"  (or Current Bun as our uncouth Cock-a-ney neighbours call it - Ed-innit?).  A veritable bounty of crass journalism and topless girls (in my opinion). here's a link if you really must look - http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/

thanks, all.  It was a curious sidewander for me but I I liked the work.  The circus gear is legit and was worn back in the  1920's, found it at an estate sale and I produced this work for a show and keep meaning to go back and shoot some color because all the outfits are in these scuzzy oranges and yellows and are pretty great though ancient looking.

Some day maybe I'll post get off me arse and shoot some more.
