Weekend September 17 to 19, 2021
« on: September 17, 2021, 02:31:06 PM »
The first two were shot on top of a mesa at El Morro National Monument in Cibola County, New Mexico with an Auto Tamron 21mm f/4.5 lens.  The last one was an old gas station South of Gallup shot with a KMZ Helios 44 58mm f/2.  The film is Expired Kodak Tri-X shot at 32 ISO and developed in HC-110 Dilution B.

Hi!

I saw the photos on flickr. The first one is magnificent! Thank for sharing. I'd love to visit those places but ... At least I've enjoyed your point of view !

Happy weekend :-)

Great shots, Bryan. Hey are you doing some time traveling? I don't think it's September 24 yet ;-)

Ooops, I fixed it.  I just wish it was the 24th, that would put me closer to going home, not that I haven't enjoyed being in New Mexico all summer.

Great shots everyone.
It's always cool to see photos of places in my home state . Bryan, those are really nice of El Morro. There's never enough time to explore.

My old home town up north are seeing some changes like this posh new bridge for pedestrians. But the local nightclub does not look very posh these days.........

Any man who can see what he wants to get on film will usually find some way to get it;
and a man who thinks his equipment is going to see for him is not going to get much of anything.

To celebrate both my new AGAT18 and Irv's generous Agfa Vista donation, I present AGAT Vista 😁 (these are half frames, so I get to post two 😉)

Things I have to get used to:
1. Scale focusing using meters 🤦🏽‍♂️
2. 4x3 aspect ratio, always historically my least favorite ratio, but so far I don't mind this camera's shots 😉
3. Dust and scratches are HUGE on 1/2 frame 😟 I spent more time cleaning up these shots than most other 135 or 120 shots 😕

But I'm still loving it!! 🥰

Told you you'd love it :)
As for dust, there's two ways to look at it.
Either you spend countless hours dusting the negatives or you embrace the dust and purposefully collect a bag of dust bunnies just to make the negatives cruddy  ;D

One of the things I now do when scanning is that I use cheap post-it imitation notes and use them to remove fine dust on the negs. It actually works pretty darn good.
Also, I use Digital ICE on color negatives.

This is my answer for dust, I've been using them for several years now.  Fold it over the negative and gently pull it through.  I also wipe down any glass surfaces that the negative may touch but I mostly use glass-less negative carriers and scan with a digital camera.

I must admit that New Mexico is a really photogenic place, that helps a lot.
Here everything falls into that dreaded middle ground. Not beautiful enough to be a masterpiece, not ugly enough to be interesting.
