On the subject of music videos that need an insane amount of work, here's another one.
It was made from 37,000 B&W photos, all taken on film and shot in the style of Georges Mélies.

My goodness! Great video!

This amounts to around 1028 rolls of Kentmere 400 36 exposure films :o

I hope a bulk loader was involved too!

Got no idea.
But I'm just trying to imagine scanning all this!
It would probably kill my scanner...

There's an early 1960's, French sci-fi short called 'La Jetee' that was largely made from B+W stills due to budget constraints. It was a staple for film school screenings, at least in the 70s (when I first saw it), as an example of how to make a compelling movie with no money.

"La Jetée is constructed almost entirely from optically printed photographs playing out as a photomontage of varying rhythm. It contains only one brief shot (of the woman mentioned above sleeping and suddenly waking up) originating on a motion-picture camera, this due to the fact that Marker could only afford to hire one for an afternoon. The stills were taken with a Pentax Spotmatic and the motion-picture segment was shot with a 35 mm Arriflex."
