Yashica Lynx-5000 repair: any hints?
« on: May 11, 2021, 04:42:56 PM »
I'm about to attempt what I believe will be my most thorough repair yet. I've had this Yashica Lynx 5000 for over 10 years. When I bought it, I didn't notice that there was a problem with one of the aperture blades... I don't know if it's got a broken pivot or if it just somehow found a way to get out of its raceway.
Lucky for me, I paid less than 5$ for it, so no big loss there. But I'd really like to get it working as it has a nice f/1.7 lens on it.

Anybody ever repaired one? Any tips?
I expect that there will be at least 4 wires hooked to it since it has a metering system. But for the rest, I'm essentially going in it blind...

Thanks!
I had all but forgotten about the Favorite classics site.
I've been looking at eBay for parts cameras. These definitely don't come cheap!
If I find the broken stud, I wonder if I might be able to spotweld it back on the blade? My dad has a lab quality spotwelder in his garage...
