Is this a sticky shutter curtain?
« on: May 03, 2021, 04:05:25 PM »
Hi all, after selling my M6 a few years ago I started missing it, so I just paid quite a bit more for another one - is there anyone who hasn't made that mistake?

It has a small problem in that on some frames I'm getting this uneven exposure. Am I correct in assuming it's a sticky shutter curtain? It's under warranty, so hopefully, this well-known store will step up and service it!

Probably.

If it shows up more with shorter exposures then I would say it's one, or both, of the curtains running unevenly. But it's unusual in my experience. Normally it just gets darker towards one end and not banding like that.

Did you get it from Aperture? I'm sure they would sort it out.

Yep, looks like the slit width is uneven across the frame. Might check for film chips in the channels the curtains run in. Other than that, it’s a service issue.

Hi Peter, yes, it seems to be on the faster speeds. It came from The Real Camera Co., in Manchester. I’ve not used them before, but it’s under warranty so hopefully they’ll be ok about serving it.
