Online photobook reccos?
« on: January 31, 2021, 07:49:47 PM »
I've decided I want to create a virtual photobook. To me, this is distinct from a photo "gallery" because I want it to have the look and feel of a book ... each page should allow me to arrange photos on it, each with a caption. Intersperse title/chapter pages in between. Cheesy page turning transitions not required ;D I know I've seen some floating around the interwebs, but I can't remember exactly where to give you examples.

Preference is for a WordPress plugin, though the Googles don't seem to indicate that there is one available. Therefore, hosted solution also acceptable :)

That's a hard one...
I personally would be more tempted to create a PDF file and lock some of the features out with a password.
That's what I've been doing with my online zines.

Coincidentally I was just reading an online magazine and had a look at Inspect for a trace. Turns out it is https://zmags.com/

I built one in html for my website with Dreamweaver. It would be better if every image were exactly the same size ... but it seemed to work. 50 double page spreads plus index and data.

I even included a random page generator button, though that may have been less wise as the minute a repeat page comes up you immediately want to quit !!  ::)

And the best thing with traditional HTML is that it's essentially bulletproof and hack proof.

Ooh, that ZMags thing looks cool. Probably expensive, but pretty much along the lines of what I was looking for  :D

And I do like your homebrewed solution, but wanted a little more "print mag" like feel to mine :)
