HELP! Winding and winding and not shutter cocking..
« on: December 21, 2020, 05:28:12 PM »
Hey friends,
One of my astro cameras, a Ricoh KR-10  has stopped cocking the shutter...it winds, and winds and winds and winds and never cocks the shutter.
I've replaced the batteries and smacked it on the desk top..but nothing.
It just winds and winds.
Any ideas for a fix?
Thank you all.

There's a repair manual you can download from https://learncamerarepair.com/product.php?product=435&category=2&secondary=11

I would start by taking the bottom off and checking the cocking lever. Part 23 on page 16 of the manual. The lever is attached to the bottom of the wind shaft and gets pulled sideways. The pin on the lever engages with the shutter to cock it. It might have become disconnected from the wind shaft.

This wouldn't surprise me. There are a lot of cameras that have a lot of stuff covered by the bottom plate.
I tend to like those because at least half of the troubles can be fixed without having to tear the whole thing apart.

Thanks Pete for the link to that manual.
I've printed out the two pages with the exploded view and the parts list, so I can study it later and then decide about what to do.
I did take the bottom plate off and watched it wind and wind...so I'll see what I can do.
I'll probably save it for after the holidays.
thanks again!   8)
