I've been decorating!
« on: July 14, 2020, 08:42:49 PM »
It's the first time I go inside a store since the month of March. What a strange feeling... and it was just the dollar store.
When I saw string LED lights, for some odd reason I had to bring them back home. I guess that's what confinement does to your brain.
So I just set to decorate a non space between two rooms.
The frame says "Step right up to the fancy photobooth".

So, how do you like it?

That's cool! Our dollar stores down in the states don't have anything that neat.
The only thing I've used a string of LED's for was red rope LED's as a darkroom light. Seemed to work ok for Ilford MG4.

Is that a lunch box with a television test pattern?

Yep, lunchbox with a TV test pattern on it.
I got it from a local bookstore chain that was liquidating unsold stock. I probably got it at something like 80% off last year. When I saw it I simply couldn't leave it there!

That's an interesting one.  When I was in elementary school I had the Hair Bear Bunch and Sigmund and the Sea Monsters.

gotta love string led lights! I'm always on the lookout for red ones.
I have a string of that in a glass jar and use it as a red light in my bathroom. it's nice that it goes on batteries

Yeah, I was expecting to find some white ones but all they had was blue.
The store has been pretty much emptied of all the cool stuff during confinement. Dollar stores were considered essential in the province because many people depend on them for groceries. But it looks like people actually went there for craft supplies instead. They're all out of acrylic paint, canvases, stencils, decorating stuff and so on.

I think the lunchboxes definitely mark an era. I had just one when I was in kindergarden. I think it was either a Superman or Raggedy Ann model... I can't remember.

Wow, I don't think I've seen one of those fibreoptic lamps for a long long time!

They had those at the dollar store a few years ago. The fun thing about this one is that it uses LEDs instead of a rotating filter wheel like the original. this makes the colors more vivid already allows it to run on batteries, but sadly it can't have the rapid zebra effect of the old ones. But at least they put a circuit in it that makes the colors cycle smoothly.
