Very interesting, especially the recordings of him sitting around talking with other photographers. I've always been interested in the volume of photographs he took, how in the world can you edit so much work? Contrast that with Alfred Eisenstaedt. From what I've read he really worried his editors at Life magazine. He would go out to an event with his Leica loaded and carry an extra roll in his pocket. Just two different ways of working I guess.
Another interesting point was his way of working, appearing to fiddle with the camera so much that you could not tell he was actually taking pictures.
When I was young, early 20's, on occasion I'd buy a 100ft of Tri-X, load the whole thing into 20 cassettes, and shoot up all of it in one day, like at the formula-V races at Elkhart Lake racetrack. But that was fairly rare. Usually I bought my bulk TX only every 3~4 weeks back then. At the time though I was shooting a couple of Pen F half frame cameras so it was quite a few exposures. Editing the contact sheets was a chore, especially since my 'hit' rate was so slim.
