Topic: Collaboration???

Isn't it about time we had one?

We talked about one last year, so how about it?
Maybe an open call, free spirited type thing....
Or something to represent what you wish for in 2018.

Besides, my photo has been the opening shot here for way too long, we need something a bit fresher me thinks...

It's funny that you mention a collaboration because I've been thinking about something that ManuelL and I've been doing privately for a while. It's sort of a "photo challenge" where one of us defines the "terms" for the challenge (we take turns doing it; sometimes we simply agree on something) and we both hand in the results. We had nice challenges like "Strangeness in ISO 1600" or "Photo 1, 10 steps, photo 2, 10 steps, photo 3". And I was thinking about proposing something similar to you fellow filmwasters. It's a very enjoyable experience for several reasons: the results, though handed in under the same terms, are very diverse and thus very interesting. And it's nice that you have a well defined goal when you go out to shoot photos. However, this is probably the exact opposite of an open call / free spirited collaboration. But I thought I'd just mention it because it occurred to me that photo challenges must be heaps of fun the more people collaborate.

That could be a fun variation on the usual theme. For some reason, it reminds me of Greg Benson's Black Friday shopping pranks (just check it out on youtube)

Something to be really creative about is fun and makes you think in a different way...

Personally, I prefer cs1's "rule defined" challenge to Becky's "open" challenge. As I was just discussing with Peter today, the reason I shoot film is because of the limitations it poses on me right from the beginning (a specific ISO, color/B&W, etc) that makes me think and act in a certain way. The more rules/restrictions, the better, says I. That being said, it's been so long since we've had a collaboration that I'd be down for anything

Great ideas! If I had to chose spontaneously, I'd pick 2). How would this collaboration work once we have decided on a topic?

In the past, we have required that filmwasters only submit one photo and it MUST have film origins.

I've got a note in to Ed, to see if we can get this rolling!

We'll get a deadline to submit and the details  soon....

I'm thinking of having a deadline of February 20, but let's see what Moderator Ed says....
