kodak are dropping various films from product list from december this year .....

I've always enjoyed the old Ektachrome 64, much more so than the newer stuff and the Elite Chrome they're pushing these days...

But, there's still Fuji Velvia (though I've heard the 50 is on the way out as well)... and also notice, they will still be shipping those products to Japan.

velvia 50 went for a while, due to unavailbility of materials apparently, but is back again, unless they've changed their minds I guess.

Yikes! HIE on the hit list! maybe I should keep my last unused roll for posterity to show my grandchildren and remind them of times when it was fun to be different. Now what am I going to do with those oh so expensive infra-red filters?

I hate to say it, but use them for digital!

on an unmodifed camera you'll require very long shutter speeds, or look out for an old Olympus C2000/C2020 these have weak internal IR cut filters so hand held IR is possible............

That reminds me of the photoshop tutorial in a well known UK photo magazine of 'how to make your photos look like IR when in fact they're not'. It's just not the same. I even have a changing bag so that I can load HIE in the field. Sigh.........

I suppose it is a bit different in that a digi IR pic is what it says it is - whereas a faked IR look in Pshop is just a poor relations as is digi IR compared to Kodak)

Have you tried any of the Maco or Rollei IR films, or adox???

I've not tried any other IR films apart from HIE, I was going to give Ilford SFX a go, then it was discontinued, then it was back, now I don't know if it's in, out or shaking it all about. I'm also gradually moving more and more to Medium Format, so that narrows the field even more for IR films, suggestions, along with appropritae filters are welcome.....

SFX is Definitely in ... I did a review article on it recently ... same as before.  It's not HIE in any shape or form, but it does give a reasonable IR effect in the right conditions using the right filter ....

I like the look of EFKE/MAKO, no idea where I could get hold of some in the UK though, I'll have to get searching. I have just the back on my RB67 waiting for a nice IR film to play with......
