Thanks Irv.
And yes, there's more to come. Here's another round of photos.
The Peak District is very rural in many places. To the pleasure of our kids we encountered a lot of sheep and friendly cows. Farm animal sightings are definitely a good way to keep kids entertained on hikes.

C SThere's always one or the other curious cow trying to find out who those people are that wield strange clicking black boxes with glass cylinders screwed to them.

C SThere's one sort of sport that many English people enjoy very much. It's called "hill walking". The objective of this sport is, as the name suggests, to walk up hills and to enjoy both the process of the walk itself as well as the view from the top of the hill. As with most other sports you can take this sport to many sorts of extremes. It's either the distance, the speed, the hight, the amount of hills or all of the above that make hill walking more or less difficult. The most extreme variant is probably the "fell race" which replaces "walking" with "running" and which to the uninitiated seems like a good and reliable way to a merciful faint.
But seriously, hill walking in the Peak District is very enjoyable and very well worth doing as much as possible. Mam Tor is one of the favourite hill walking destinations in the area where we stayed.
