Buying a Printer in London
« on: May 14, 2016, 03:43:11 PM »
I have decided to invest in an Epson P600 so I can start making digital negatives.   Question is where is the best place to buy printers in London.  PC World/Currys etc don't stock the model I am looking for.

I'd try Camera World and Calumet to start with....

If you don't mind buying by mail order it's available from ebuyer http://www.ebuyer.com/696797-epson-surecolor-sc-p600-a3-inkjet-photo-printer-c11ce21301

...or as Paul suggests, Calumet if you prefer to buy in store.

I'll pick it up on Saturday.  Lost my bloody satnav though.  I'll have to map read.

Charles,

They will let you pick it up from their loading bay.  Give them a call to arrange.  Here's a map showing where they are (High Chelmer Shopping Centre at the Tindal Street / Market Road end).  They are south of the Cathedral on this map.

Well, Mrs LD and I ventured forth to the Photography Show last Sunday and had a really good mooch around.

I've wanted to have access to a printer for a while but have resisted on the basis that we have insufficient space and a mate of mine does all the printing I need.  Anyway, I've jumped in feet-first and got a P600 as well.  I didn't realise at the time that it is the same model that Charles bought.

I got it from Fotospeed and it comes with their tubeless ink system which is 9 x 125 ml canisters (a load more than the Epson trial set).  They also provide some sample papers but I saw the range they offered at the show and negotiated 25 sheets of 12 x 12 Platinum Etching 285 gsm instead.

Apparently, you can download the profiles for their papers - which should be good enough - but they will also do free "custom" profiles if you print a sheet off and send it to them.

It arrives on Saturday morning..... 8)
