Topic: Elton John's photo collection at the Tate

I don't know if anyone is planning to go but here's the info anyway.
To my surprise, Elton John is a big collector of photography. He has one of the biggest collections in the world with over 8000 images and 190 of them are on display at the Tate. The photos shown were taken from 1915 to 1950 and consist of fine B&W prints.
Now you can take your time to go and see it as they're going to be on display until May 7th, 2017.

Definitely going to see this, next week if possible. Can't wait - there are some really unusual gems there apparently, as well as contemporary prints of very well known works.

Just looked on the Tate website, and it seems this is classed as a "special exhibition", so there's a £16.50 entry fee, which seems a little steep to me.

I was thinking the same.  Maybe Reg is due a re-thatch...? 

Anyway, I'll still be heading over there at some point as it looks like a great selection of photos.

Elton John has been on the list of top collectors for years. I once saw photos of one of his homes and the iconic photographs were hanging on the walls, salon style, from floor to ceiling.

Read a review, I think on the Telegraph website, that was a little critical of some of the frame styles... seems Reg is not shy of an ostentatious display... who'd have thought it..!

CBS Sunday Morning news just did a segment on Sir Elton's vast photo collections in his homes in Atlanta, Los Angeles and London.
He has quite the eclectic and extensive collection.

If I could go to the show, I would be there in a heartbeat, and most likely go back again to see it again.
