An unexpected gift - Balda Super Baldax
« on: September 18, 2016, 04:45:56 PM »
Hi!

I've been given an unexpected gift. Well, two gifts actually.
One, a camera, a Balda Super Baldax. I'm pretty sure it comes from London MWClassics ...
It's a folding rangefinder camera of the early fifties.
My camera has a Schneider-Kreuznach Radionar  80/2.9 lens and a Prontor-SVS shutter with 1/300 max speed.

The other ... an exposed film !!! A Panatomic-x ;-) You know, a 32 ISO BW film that was discontinued in 1987.

I developed the film with Rodinal 1+100 (stand dev).

3. Ummmm, nice triplet ;-)

Some of the pics now. A family in Austria,  near Viena.
I know that is Viena because a friend that was living there recogniced the strange building of the first two pics: the Wotruba Church.

So, these photos were shot circa 1980 ...

Nice camera, I look forward to seeing what you can do with it.  By the look of the film you developed it should serve you well.

A generous gift and #5 and #10 are awesome buildings. Perfect quality for being exposed more than 30 years ago.

Superb to luck in like that. The camera itself, looks lovely the existing roll came out so well and those new shots do it justice.

Antonio - a fantastic gift and you've done a great job with the processing of both films.

If it did come from MW Classic, it wouldn't surprise me, as their place is a real Aladdin's cave with some great film gear.  I know the guys who own / run it very well and they'd be delighted to know that something they'd sold is being put to such good use.
