A busy day in the contrail band. Leica IIIg, Elmar 50/3.5, FP4+ in Caffenol C-H(RS):

A car that you don't see too often here in Germany.

It's even got the late 70s stripes. Did it have a little round window in the back? A giant airbrushed mural with a unicorn or a spaceship? An orange or purple shag carpet interior with a disco ball? A bumper sticker that says "Shag Wagon" or "If this van's a'rockin', don't come a'knockin'"?

Thinking back on it, the 70s was a very stupid decade.

That Chevy Van made me smile.  Didn't that van come stock with a disco ball and shag carpet?

And you know, sometimes there were strange smells coming from them too.

And don't forget to check for black lights, brown paneling and get the proper film to capture those burnt orange or hay colors that go with the times. ;)
BTW, most of the stuff was made from instantly flammable 100% pure space age polyester in those days... be careful or it could self ignite  ;D

My Minolta Autocord just came back from Karl Bryan in Oregon who did a full service on it. The camera's like new!  :)

Urban's van is the best - it even has those little side markers near the turn signals that were an odd requirement of the day.

I got my Makina W67 back from service last week so I took it to Central Park and found this kid about to get a soapy mouthful  :-)

Great shot, Jeff!  (And I like Gary's radioactive dog too.)

More playing with closeup Long Focus Premo stuff.  Starting to get the hang of the camera.

Great set so far. Love 02Pilot's jet trails and Urban's Chevy Van.

A couple from our 2013 holiday - finally getting round to having a proper go at scanning them.  Nikon FE + Fuji Provia 100f

Screwed up the exposure on the "Smiley" but liked it nonetheless.

I've got some more recent shots but I'm still editing them (infernal dust spots!) So here are two from a few weeks back, taking a walk along the Hudson (K1000, HP5, Caffenol)

Lovely river shots. (Especially the ghostly pier pilings.) Must do some caffenol again--I think my instant coffee has expired....

I know this is similar to one I think I put in the thread a couple of weeks ago, but of the shots I took on a hike in the same canyon (different trail), I like this one the best. The wild oats add a little something. The sky is a little blown, so I might actually shoot this film at box speed next time.

I suppose I should post one this week since I haven't in the past few weeks. Here's a new mini-project of mine which I very originally call "New York nightshots" :P The goal is to recreate old 70's/80's/90's candid nighttime streetshots of partygoers, revelers, and drunk people out enjoying the night. Here is one from St Mark's Place (which of course looks nothing like St Mark's Place looked like in the 70's :P )

Lonely night on St Mark's Place by Satish Indofunk, on Flickr

Kodak Gold 400 shot at 1600 and pushed in C41 at 100F for 5 minutes. I'm really getting into pushing color, it looks so great. And with Kodak Gold, it's dirt cheap too :)

I'm pretty impressed within the colors straight out of the scanner on Kodak Pro Image 100. So impressed, I ordered another 20 rolls.

Nice shot Chad. It looks like the reds aren't as saturated as with Ektar. Is that your impression?

Thanks! Definitely not as saturated in the magentas, but it might have a little in the cyan space, I'll have to shoot with it some more, this is my first roll. It scans very similarly to Kodak Gold in the Pakon, which I've heard this emulsion is closely related to.

Wow! What a wonderful collection of photos. Great stuff, 'Wasters  ;D I have about 40 'Roids sitting next to me as I type (many of which I'm pretty pleased with), but I'm not sure I'll ever get round to scanning them. Boo!
