A really interesting set of images.

Despite the fact that they contain modern equipment, the wetplate gives them a timeless look.

Thanks for sharing.

Fantastic images, and I do love it when someone uses an old process to take images that are clearly modern, although admittedly number 10 could have been taken a hundred or more years ago, that's an old sea-dog's beard if ever I saw one.
I also like the colour shots of him setting up for his picture, followed by the picture itself. That's a nice contrast.

Oh, there's a website, that looks worth a reading! http://lifeboatstationproject.com/

They are fantastic, thanks for sharing!

I really love tintype and want to try it but life is too busy at the moment having two young children, but one day. My wife bought me the tintype kit (http://rockaloid.com/Tintype-kit-authentic) which is a slightly different process as you allow the solution to dry, but I haven't had chance to do that yet either as I need a safe light...

I will follow his progress, hope he does a book. i have spent lots of time swimming near Padstow lifeboat station so look forward to seeing that one.

Cheers!

Yes! This is my type of thing. I too enjoy seeing images of modern life shot with an older process. I'm not a big fan of the type of photos where the subject is made to look old fashioned (e.g. by wearing a period costume) and then shot using an old process, but this mix of old and present day looks great.

Has our beloved server developed Alzheimer? I was the first to post a comment on this thread yesterday, closely followed by another member (Late Developer?). Now both posts are gone, vanished into thin air. Did somebody turn the server clock backwards?
